DuPage County Healthy Roads Initiative
Description

The Initiative seeks to create a balanced transportation system for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Key components of the Healthy Roads Initiative direct the County to, whenever feasible:

-Construct a sidewalk or bicycle path where right-of-way is available

-Ensure that the new construction project is safe for both the user and the community

-Ensure that the new construction project preserves the environmental, scenic, aesthetic, historic and natural resource value of the area

-Ensure that the new construction project adds a lasting value to both motorized and non-motorized users

-Explore the feasibility of the use of fiber-optics for utility placement

The Initiative was passed by the County Council in summer of 2004.
