Recreational Renovations
Description

June, 2004: A dedicated and enthusiastic group of village volunteers from Southern High School, F.Q. Sanchez, Oceanview Middle School, Youth Crime Watch and Department of Youth Affairs joined together under the coordination of Connie Santiago, in conjunction with Mayor Tony Quinata, to repaint six village bus stops.

Mayor Quinata received contributions of paint from first lady Joan Camacho and from other outside support.
The student involvement in the activity promoted a sense of community and helped minimize graffiti.

The mayor noted that the future of Umatac looks bright as two new Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority grants totaling in $3.5 million dollars have been allotted. This funding will provide a new indoor basketball court pavilion and a new building that will house a multi-purpose community center.

Goal

Empowering community youths.
