The Prevention Research Center at Tulane University is working to build a healthy environment in a renewed New Orleans. The Prevention Research Center (PRC) has been actively involved in New Orleans health issues since 1998. Within the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, they recognized an opportunity to rebuild New Orleans and its neighborhoods in ways that promote healthy behavior. The center is taking advantage of this opportunity by participating in the re-development of New Orleans and trying to incorporate health goals into these plans.  

The Prevention Research Center at Tulane University also serves as a resource for policymakers, local organizations and community members on the environment and its impact on health.
