New organization aims to tackle obesity by increasing collaboration

A new organization housed at Penn State University aims to build national capacity for collaboration across sectors in support of active living and healthy eating strategies. The Institute for Collective Advancement of Activity and Nutrition (I-CAAN) is a joint initiative between Penn State Outreach and the College of Health and Human Development.

I-CAAN hopes to create strategies for making social change at a national level by enabling Penn State research faculty and other collaborative institutions to analyze data on obesity intervention programs in schools, communities and healthcare settings. It will also act as a central hub for obesity prevention information and research, bringing together many different public and private partners.
