Rockefeller Foundation Establishes Jane Jacobs Medal

The Rockefeller Foundation announced the creation of the “Jane Jacobs Medal,” which will honor the late author, activist and urban visionary by recognizing individuals whose accomplishments exemplify her ideals. Totaling $200,000 in prizes, the annual award will celebrate two people following her example to make New York City a more vibrant, livable place. One award recognizes leadership and lifetime contribution, the other honors new ideas and activism. Nominations will be accepted online through March 2; recipients will be announced in June.
