RWJF funds $20 million expansion of Healthy Schools Program

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) announced a $20 million expansion of the Healthy Schools Program. The expansion grant, funded by RWJF, will focus on states with the highest obesity rates and also expand online support for schools.

The Alliance for a Healthier Generation, a joint initiative of the American Heart Association and Clinton Foundation, created the Healthy Schools Program in 2006 with an additional $8 million RWJF grant. The number of schools receiving in-person support for healthy eating and increased physical activity for students and staff will jump from 230 to more than 8,000 by 2010.
